Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens and International Relations Committee (IRC) Chair Fred Francis, along with Windsor-Tecumseh Member of Parliament Irek Kusmierczyk will welcome dignitaries from Poland, including a guest from our twin city of Lublin, this Friday, November 18, 2022.
Mr. Krzysztof Stanowski, Director, International Cooperation Centre of the City of Lublin; Mr. Witold Dzielski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Canada; Ms. Natalia Kubik, Consul of the Republic of Poland in Ottawa; Mr. Janusz Tomczak, President, Canadian Polish Congress (with his wife Katarzyna); and Mr. Roszak, Dominic, Vice President, Canadian Polish Congress, and Vice Chair World Polonia Council will attend a ribbon cutting in City Hall.
The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the lobby of 350 City Hall Square West where the sixth annual Children’s Art Exhibition will be unveiled.
Selected entries of local art created by children between 6 and 12 years of age will be showcased along with art created by children in some of Windsor’s twin cities, including Fujisawa, Japan; Gunsan, South Korea; Saltillo, Mexico; Changchun, China; Lublin, Poland; and Mannheim, Germany. A selection of Windsor artwork will also be displayed in the city hall buildings of our twin cities.
Windsor’s twin city relationship with Lublin became official on June 26, 2000, with the support of Windsor’s active Polish community. This relationship has been demonstrated through reciprocated visits of official delegations, event collaborations, special gift exchanges, and milestone anniversary celebrations.
